Adult & Child competition - Sun 5th Sept

The Elegent Gems sponsored competition on next Sun 5th Sept has been broadened to include Adult & Child rather than just Parent & Child as it is listed in the Fixture book. The compeititon is an 18-Hole Foursomes event with children (Juveniles or Students) with adult handicaps playing off their usual white tees for boys and red tees for girls. For Children who have juvenile handicaps, all boys will play off green tees and girls off red tees. No play in this competition off the yellow tees.

Hollowcoring Starting Wed 1st Sept

Hollowcoring of the greens has started this morning.

We are looking for volunteers from 6.30pm both this evening, Wednesday & tomorrow evening, Thursday, to brush the sand into the holes made in the greens by the hollow tining.

This will significantly speed up the recovery time of the greens.

If you can spare an hour or two either or both evenings we would appreciate your help.

Please come along with a brush.

Kilmore Cup 2010

The final of the 2010 Kilmore Cup was played yesterday afternoon (Monday 2nd of August) with Patrick O'Reilly & Liam Henry emerging as winners on the 18th after a tight battle with Anthony Sheridan & Canice Dunphy.

Congratulations to Pat & Liam on their win and commiserations to Anthony & Canice. This was Pat's 2nd matchplay win of the year (so far) and he can expect some serious reprecussions when the handicap review comes up in the Autumn!

Eddie McCormack selected to represent Ireland in Home Internationals

The team to represent Ireland in the Home Internationals at Ashburnham Golf Club on 11th - 13th August 2010 includes Eddie McCormack who played all of his formative golf at Co Cavan Golf Club and now plays out of Galway Golf Club. This is a fantastic achievement and is due recognition for strong performances in both the 'West' where he was 2010 beaten finalist, the 'East' where he led after three rounds and a good performance for Connacht in the recent interprovincial series which obviously impressed the selectors. Eddie expressed his delight today at the news of his selection and Co Cavan Golf Club extends heartiest congratulations and good wishes to him. Incidentially, Eddie confirmed that he recently won the gross at a Friday Open at Roscommon Golf Club with a score of 9 under!
